WHAT IS OSHA'S VIEW OF SAFETY INCENTIVES?

OSHA clarified its stance on incentives in this memorandum issued May 12, 2016. In it, OSHA acknowledges that safety incentive programs can be beneficial and are permissible as long as they are not implemented in a manner that discourages reporting. We strive to help companies increase their compliance with regulatory standards. Our recognition system is based on the observance of safe behavior and rewards employees for reporting near-misses and hazards.
